We’re set just a 20 minute walk from Keswick, a bustling Lake District market town, with its wide range of local stores and cafes. There’s plenty to see and do in Keswick including the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick Museum, The Pencil Museum, Kong Adventure, The Puzzling place. If you fancy a trip out on the lake why not do a round trip on the Keswick launch.
Using Derwent Water Marina as your base, it is very easy to explore the neighbouring valleys and secluded places and from here you can explore the five major lakes, picturesque valleys and unspoilt villages that make this such a special place to visit.
ARTS & CULTURE
Keswick and the surrounding are home to a range of museums and gallery’s. As well as ‘The Theatre By the Lake’ which is Cumbria’s only year-round professional producing theatre. Or you could visit the vintage Alhambra Cinema which has a very traditional feel, but a programme that is 100% up-to-date.
ACTIVITIES
Away from the water, there is road cycling, mountain biking, hill walking and climbing to name a few. Neighbouring Whinlatter forest offers adrenaline-fueled tree-top adventures, exciting mountain bike trails and Segway on the forest trails. There is also the opportunity to try Go-Karting, or other off road vehicles.
EATING OUT
There are several cafés within walking distance of the Marina that have an excellent menu, plus a local Hotel and pub for meals out in the evening. There are several places to stop and eat on the lake sure and in the nearby Newlands valley. Or if you venture further afield Keswick has a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs.
